Director of Safety and Security

Luther College

Luther College is seeking a full-time Director of Safety and Security. Director will provide culturally sensitive leadership and supervision for all areas of safety and security for a residential college campus, including personnel management, budgeting, program purchasing, training and federal reporting/disclosure mandates. The Director is also responsible for ensuring the appropriate development of emergency policies, implementing emergency planning, and providing emergency information to students, faculty, and staff. Director will serve as a strategic thought partner to the Vice President for Finance and Administration on issues of campus safety and security. Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or a related field; Master’s and/or relevant certification in higher education safety and security desirable. Four years of progressively responsible management/supervisory experience in higher education law enforcement or public safety and experience working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds is a plus. Certification in CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid is required, EMR or EMT is preferred. Also required is a valid driver’s license.
