Assistant Dean for Student Life and Coordinator of First-Year Initiatives
Luther College, a four-year residential liberal arts college, invites applications for Assistant Dean for Student Life and Coordinator of First-Year Initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Life, the Assistant Dean is an essential position in the life of the college where they will lead the ongoing development of new student transition programs, including orientation. The assistant dean will also be a core member of the case management team in the Student Life Office. Lutherís strategic plan, Inspired. Empowered. Engaged., addresses important issues of student well-being and inclusive excellence. The successful candidate will respectfully develop authentic, supportive relationships with students and possess the capacity to foster personal identity development. A record of commitment to collaborative, intersectional work with measurable results is essential. A Masterís degree is preferred in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, Higher Education, or a related field. Knowledge of the student development process and Bachelorís degree required. Also required is minimum two years experience in Student Affairs or closely related work experience. In addition to strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to speak Spanish is desired. Luther is located in the city of Decorah in the beautiful northeast Iowa Driftless Region.
